The Baba Yaga will return. During today’s Lionsgate studio showcase at CinemaCon 2025, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson announced that the next mainline installment of the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 5, is officially a go, with Keanu Reeves set to reprise his iconic action antihero role once again.

Lionsgate is developing the fivequel with Thunder Road Pictures and producers Bail Iwanyk and Erica Lee. Franchise director and producer Chad Stahelski is also producing the film along with star Keanu Reeves.

The latest installment in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 4, was the most successful one yet, grossing $187 million domestically and over $440 million at the worldwide box office. Each film grossed more than its predecessor, a rare feat for film franchises. The films have earned over $1 billion at the global box office.

Since the franchise started in 2014, it’s spawned several sequels, plus the hit television prequel, The Continental: From the World of John Wick, and the first film spinoff, Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, which will be released on June 6. The film also features Reeves once again as Wick.

Lionsgate Television is also developing another TV spinoff, John Wick: Under the High Table, with Stahelski and Reeves attached as executive producers. In terms of other synergistic tie-ins, Lionsgate opened an immersive John Wick-themed experience in Las Vegas, and a AAA John Wick video game is also in the works.

Fogelson said on today’s announcement, “Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world. We can’t wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next.” Producers Iwanyk and Lee added via press release, “It’s so important to get this story right and give John’s story the proper next step. It’s exciting to take the first step on that road.”

Lionsgate has not yet announced a release date for the sequel. It will be released in theaters later on.
