If a new report is to be believed, we could be getting a new Constantine live-action film. Take this as a rumor with appropriate helpings of salt for now, but The Direct reports that a “reliable source with industry knowledge” has informed then that Warner Bros. is developing a live-action movie based on the character alongside Bad Robot, with JJ Abrams attached to produce.

The site reports that the film will have a similar feel and tone to Bad Robots’ planned Justice League Dark show for HBO Max.

As of now, the report says it isn’t known if this would be a continuation of the original 2005 film with Keanu Reeves reprising the role or a reboot that would cast a new actor in the role. Constantine has only had the one film appearance, but he has appeared in several TV adaptations all with a relatively same continuity. Matt Ryan played the character in the one-season NBC series, then brought him into the Arrowverse via appearances in Arrow and then a role on Legends of Tomorrow. An animated series with Ryan voicing the role, Constantine: City of Demons, also appeared on CW Seed.

In terms of other versions, Ryan has been the voice of Constantine in the DC animated VOD films Justice League Dark and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, the latter of which debuted in May.
