President Donald Trump is calling for the FBI and Department of Justice to investigate charges being dropped against Jussie Smollett. Trump posted to Twitter on Thursday calling the dropping of charges related to the alleged attack on Smollett an “embarrassment to our Nation,” as you can see below. Smollett was cleared of the sixteen felony charges earlier this week, with State’s Attorney Kim Foxx reportedly saying that there was no point in prosecuting him since he has already performed community service which is what he would have gotten in the case.

The news comes after Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police had announced it filed a request with the DOJ to investigate the situation, which has seen a massive backlash. The FBI announced they were looking into the decision on Wednesday due to public outcry.

Trump also took a shot at the situation during a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Thursday, saying, “How ’bout Chicago” to a host of boos from the crowd. He noted that this is the only time he’s agreed with Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, specifically referencing Emanuel’s anger over the case being dropped.
