George R.R. Martin Signs Five-Year Exclusive Deal With HBO

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that George R.R. Martin has signed five-year overall deal to develop more programming for HBO and HBO Max. The deal is reportedly in the mid-eight figures. This new deal is in addition to all of the various Game of Thrones prequels already in development, which is currently at five. Only one, House of the Dragon, was greenlit to series. The other Thrones prequels in development include a project following Queen Nymeria, The Sea Snake, Flea Bottom, Dunk & Egg and an animated drama.

Martin is also developing and will executive produce Who Fears Death (based on Nnedi Okorafor’s 2011 novel) and Roadmarks (based on Roger Zelazny’s 1979 novel).
