Gwyneth Paltrow Didn’t Know Samuel L. Jackson Was Nick Fury Until Avengers: Endgame

Gwyneth Paltrow’s unfamiliarity with the movie franchise she’s part of is reaching legendary proportions, as she didn’t realize Samuel L. Jackson was in it. Kevin Feige did a Q&A with Empire and revealed that the actress, who plays Pepper Potts, didn’t know Jackson played Nick Fury until the funeral scene in Avengers: Endgame.

Feige recalled that when the scene was being filmed, “Gwyneth Paltrow (was) asking why Sam Jackson was there. And the other actors (were) jumping in saying, ‘What are you talking about? He’s Nick Fury! You’ve been in movies with him.’”

This is the latest example of Paltrow being unfamiliar with who is in the MCU films she appears in — or that she’s been in MCU films at all. During an appearance with Jon Favreau on The Chef Show, she expressed that she didn’t realize she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming. She also has forgotten multiple times who Sebastian Stan is. The actor has said he has had to introduce himself to her multiple times, and she was caught asking Chris Pratt who Stan was during a Q&A at an Infinity War premiere.
