Jennifer Beals joins DC Universe’s Swamp Thing

Jennifer Beals is set to join the cast of DC Universe’s live-action Swamp Thing series. Variety reports that Beals (Flashdance, Taken, The L Word) will play Sheriff Lucilia Cable in the series. She joins Derek Mears, Crystal Reed, and Maria Sten in the series.

Sheriff Cable is described as follows: “Tough as nails and pragmatic, Cable’s fierce devotion to her son, Matt, is rivaled only by her sworn duty to serve and protect the town of Marais. As the community she has dedicated her life to defending is beset by strange forces, she must double down in her efforts to safeguard everyone she holds dear.”

The prospective series will be executive produced by Len Wiseman (Sleepy Hollow) who will also direct the pilot. Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman will co-write the series and act as showrunners, and will be executive producers alongside Wiseman and James Wan (Aquaman).
