Jerry Bruckheimer Says National Treasure 3 Still In Works With Nicolas Cage
National Treasure has gone to the small screen, but Jerry Bruckheimer says a third film with Nicolas Cage is still in the works. The mega-producer recently spoke with E! News sand said that a third film in the hit franchise is still in development with Nicolas Cage planned to return.
“We said we’d like to make another National Treasure and they said, ‘Sure, let’s come up with a new cast,'” Bruckheimer said while promoting the Disney+ series National Treasure: Edge of History. “At the same time, we were developing National Treasure for the theaters with Nicolas Cage—which we still are. So, that’s ongoing.”
The second film in the franchise, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, released in 2007 and grossed $459.2 million worldwide on a $130 million budget. Edge of History premiered on Disney+ on December 14th and stars Lisette Olivera, Zuri Reed, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
