Kevin Feige Says Spider-Man/Venom Crossover Film ‘Likely’ But Up to Sony
Kevin Feige believes that a crossover between Spider-Man and Venom will happen, but that it’s up to Sony to make that happen. Feige spoke to Cinema Blend promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home and was asked whether, given Venom’s success and the blockbuster status of the MCU Spider-Man, we might see the two cross paths.
“I think probably it’s up to Sony,” Feige said. “Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.”
Venom was an unexpectedly big hit for Sony, with $855 million worldwide against a $110 million budget. (By comparison, that’s more than any Spider-Man film except Spider-Man 3 and Homecoming.) There were a lot of mixed signals leading up to Venom’s release as to whether it would be part of the MCU. Whether Marvel has softened to the idea of such a crossover or not isn’t yet clear.
