Looks like Dante will not even supposed to be here today one more time, as Kevin Smith has announced a third Clerks film. Smith took to Instagram on Friday as his Jay & Silent Bob Reboot gets set to release on October 15th, announcing that Clerks III is moving forward with the core case returning.
In the post, which you can see below, Smith poses with Jason Mewes and Jeff Anderson, who plays Randall in the film series. He said that the third Clerks will be “a movie about how a decades-spanning friendship finally confronts the future.” The film was originally supposed to film in 2014, but Anderson did not ultimately sign on and Smith ended up writing a new story in the meantime.
Clerks II was a minor success for the Weinstein Company, bringing in $27 million worldwide from a $5 million budget and relatively minimal marketing.
