UPDATE: TMZ reports that as of earlier this afternoon, Les Moonves is officially out at CBS. Additionally, the report indicates that CBS is going through a massive shakeup with its board of directors through a company-wide settlement.

Additionally, CBS is claiming that $20 million will be donated on Moonves’ and the network’s behalf to an organization that supports #MeToo. The payment will reportedly company out of severance benefits that are owed to Moonves following an investigation into his alleged misconduct.

The report also mentions that Les Moonves will not receive “any type of severance package at this point.” He might still receive some type of further payment after the investigation has wrapped, and a final evluation is handed out from the Board of Directors.

Following being ousted from CBS, Les Moonves issued a statement, saying the allegations against him are “untrue.” You can read his statement below:

“Untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who I am. Effective immediately I will no longer be Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CBS. I am deeply saddened to be leaving the company. I wish nothing but the best for the organization, the newly comprised board of directors and all of its employees.”

ORIGINAL: The New Yorker has a lengthy story up in which six more women come forward to accuse CBS executive Les Moonves of sexual assault. Moonves is expected to leave his position with CBS soon and will given a lucrative exit package.

The six new incidents took place between the 1980s and 2000s and include an accusation by Phyllis Golden-Gottlieb, a longtime TV executive who worked with Moonves in the 1980s. She claims that Moonves physically restrained her, threw her up against a wall, and forced her to perform oral sex on him. She filed a criminal complaint with the LAPD in 2017. The LAPD told the New Yorker that the claims are “credible” and Moonves told members of the CBS board of directors about the situation months ago.

Another one of the accusers, Jessica Pallingston, was Moonves’ assistant in 1994 and claims that she was coerced into giving Moonves oral sex on her first day. She says he verbally abused her after she rejected future advances.

Moonves has responded to the New Yorker story, acknowledging three of the encounters but saying they were consensual.

“The appalling accusations in this article are untrue,” Moonves said. “What is true is that I had consensual relations with three of the women some 25 years ago before I came to CBS. And I have never used my position to hinder the advancement or careers of women. In my 40 years of work, I have never before heard of such disturbing accusations. I can only surmise they are surfacing now for the first time, decades later, as part of a concerted effort by others to destroy my name, my reputation, and my career. Anyone who knows me knows that the person described in this article is not me.”

CNN reports that official word on Moonves’ departure from CBS is expected by Monday.
