The 1991 Soviet Union TV version of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring has surfaced online. The made-for-TV movie, titled Khraniteli, is the only version of The Long of the Rings made in the Soviet Union.

The successor to the Soviet-era TV station Leningrad Television, 5TV, posted the entire movie to YouTube so you can check it out below. Be warned, the production values certainly don’t come close to matching up with Peter Jackson’s epic version of the film.

One interesting note though is that the Soviet version does include Tom Bombadil, a character from the book that was cut in Jackson’s version of the movie because he didn’t move the plot forward.
