Michael Bay Open to Making a Superhero Film, Probably Not For Marvel

Michael Bay says he would be up for doing a superhero movie, but probably not a Marvel one and has explained why. Bay, whose new film Ambulance releases on Friday, spoke with ComicBook.com for a new interview and said that while he’s open to a superhero project, he prefers to create the world around his films which makes the MCU an ill fit.

“It’s not that I’m not interested in Marvel,” Bay told the site. “As Ridley Scott says, the most complicated thing for a director and the most fun thing for a director is to build the world.”

Bay went on to say, “I’m not the guy to go into Lucas’ Star Wars and do Star Wars 5,” Bay said. “That’s not me. I’m not the one to come into Iron Man 7. I’m not the one to do Batman 10. I want to do my own thing. I would love to do a superhero thing but I want to do it on my own terms and create my own world.”

Bay has of course had his own franchises in the Transformers and first two Bad Boys films but has otherwise mostly stayed out of film series.
