Neill Blomkamp Says District 9 Sequel Is In the Works

The long-anticipated sequel to District 9 is making progress, according to Neill Blomkamp himself. Blomkamp took to Twitter on Friday to confirm that he, Terri Tatchell, and Sharlto Copley are currently writing the script for District 10.

Blomkamp has been discussing the potential sequel to District 9pretty much since it released in 2009. He has discussed it intermittently over the years, noting in 2017 that was interested in working with WETA on the potential follow-up. The original film was a critical and commercial hit when it released, earning Oscar nominations for Best Picture and more while grossing $210.8 million against a $30 million budget.
