Nicolas Cage To Star As Nicolas Cage In The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Lionsgate is in final talks to pick up The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Nicolas Cage is expected to play himself in the film which has had several studios interested including Paramount and HBO Max.

Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten wrote the script with Gormican set to direct.

The film would be about Nicolas Cage trying to get a role in a new Quentin Tarantino movie while dealing with his teenage daughter and being in massive debt, leading to him having to appear at the birthday party of a Mexican billionaire. The film would also feature a 1990s version of Cage who talks to the present version and gets on him for making bad movies and not being a star anymore.

Cage hasn’t been in a major studio release since 2011’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
