Nicole Ari Parker Promoted To Series Regular For Season 5 of Empire

Deadline reports that Nicole Ari Parker has been promoted to a series regular for the fifth season of FOX’s drama Empire. Her character of Giselle, the ex-wife of Eddie Barker (Forest Whitaker), was introduced in the middle of last season as a recurring character. In season five, she will try to seize power for herself and “she’ll tackle grudges, make unexpected alliances and find a surprising love interest.”

The series was created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong. It’s the #2 series on FOX in adults 18-49 and total viewers. It stars Terence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere “Yazz” Gray, Trai Byers, Gabourey Sidibe, Ta’Rhonda Jones, Serayah, Andre Royo and Terrell Carter.
