Jeremy Bulloch, the actor who originally donned Boba Fett’s armor in The Empire Strikes Back, has passed away. Daniel Logan, who played young Boba Fett in Attack of the Clones, revealed on Instagram on Thursday that Bulloch had passed at the age of 75. His agent confirmed the news in a statement to CNN, noting:

“He died peacefully, in hospital, surrounded by his family, from health complications following his many years living with Parkinson’s disease. He had a long and happy career spanning more than 45 years. He was devoted to his wife, three sons, and ten grandchildren and they will miss him terribly. We ask that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.”

While Bulloch’s most iconic role will be that of the legendary Star Wars bounty hunter, Bulloch had a lengthy acting career that included over 100 credits. His career started with a breakfast cereal commercial spot at the age of 12, and he went on to do several uncredited screen appearances before his first credited regular role in the 1960 TV series Counter-Attack!. Bulloch continued to work in film and TV, including two guest roles on Doctor Who in 1965 and 1973, Phillip Cooper on the BBC soap opera The Newcomers from 1965 through 1968, Edward of Wickham in Robin of Sherwood from 1983 – 1985, and more.

Bulloch did not only play Fett in Empire — a role he got thanks to his half-brother Robert Watts being an associate producer who needed to find someone who could fit into the costume — he also had a small role as Lieutenant Sheckil, an Imperial officer. He would also play the role in Return of the Jedi, and would go on to cameo as Jeremoch Colton in Revenge of the Sith in 2005 even as the role of Fett was moved to Logan in the prequels and then Temuera Morrison (who played Jango Fett in the prequels) for Disney+ series The Mandalorian. He did not voice the role; Jason Wingreen voiced the role in the original films and Morrison was the voice of Fett for the 2004 special edition of Empire.

On behalf of 411, our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Mr. Bulloch. He will be missed.
