Resident Evil Reboot Set for September Release
Sony Pictures’ upcoming reboot of the Resident Evil franchise is officially set for a September release. Deadline reports that the origin story reboot from Constantin Films and Sony will bow on September 3rd.
The film stars Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Neal McDonough as William Birkin, and Donal Logue as Chief Irons. It is an “origin story adaptation” of the games, set in 1998 in Racoon City.
The last installment of the first film franchise was Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which bombed in the US but did well overseas with $312.2 million worldwide (only $26.8 million of that in the US). The new film will restart the continuity.
