The Batman appears likely to get a sequel, and star Robert Pattinson has weighed in on the follow-up potentially using the Court of Owls. Pattinson and co-stars Paul Dano, Zoë Kravitz, and Jeffrey Wright did a video for Vanity Fair discussing fan theories about the film, and they reacted to the idea that the Court of Owls, who first appeared in the New 52’s Batman #3 in 2011. The organization, created by writer Scott Snyder, is a secret society of Gotham elites who have controlled Gotham through political power, money and murder, the latter through their assassins known as Talons.

Dano and Pattinson immediately expressed their appreciation for the Court of Owls, with Pattinson saying (per JoBlo), “If they disappear and they’re secretly running it [Court of Owls], that would really be a difficult thing for Bruce to handle. That would be a nightmare. I was definitely thinking that the Court of Owls would be in the sequel.”

Warner Bros. has not officially greenlit a sequel to the film (though that would seem likely considering the film’s box office start; more on that shortly on the site). However there are already two spinoffs for HBO Max in the works, one focusing on Collin Farrell’s Penguin exploring his rise to power and another centered on Arkham Asylum. The Batman is now in theaters.
