Filmmaker Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, The Evil Dead) is in talks to direct the film adaptation of Patrick Rothfuss’s fantasy series The Kingkiller Chronicles. Variety reports that Saimi is in negotiations to help the film, which will be based on the first book The Name of the Wind. Lindsey Beer is adapting the novel to script form.
No release date has been announced yet for the film, which will be accompanied by a TV series to air on Showtime and is a prequel. Lin-Manuel Miranda will executive produce and compose music for both the show and film.
The Kingkiller Chronicles follow a wizard named Kvothe who recalls the tales of his early days before he became the most infamous swordsman, musician, and magician in the world.
