Seth Rogen To Remake British Comedy Plebs

Coming Soon reports that Seth Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures is producing a US remake of the British TV series Plebs. Rogen acquired the rights from Rise Films, the British company that produces for ITV. Rise will be credited as a co-producer. Development is still in early talks, so there’s no word on where it might air.

The original series stars Tom Rosenthal and Ryan Sampson. It follows Marcus, Stylax and their slave Grumio who get into troule in their “wacky, mundane lives as young, hot-blooded men living in the cosmopolitan metropolis of ancient Rome.” It was created by Sam Leifer and Tom Basden and a fourth season is already being planned. Guest stars include Robert Lindsay, Tom Davis and Maureen Lipman.
