Sony Sets Release Dates For Grudge Reboot and Greyhound
Coming Soon reports that Sony has announced release dates for Greyhound and their reboot of The Grudge.
Greyhound will be released on April 5, 2019. It was written by Tom Hanks, who will also star. Aaron Schneider will direct, based on the novel The Good Shepherd by C.S. Forester. FilmNation Entertainment’s Aaron Ryder, Playtone’s Steven Shareshian, and David Coatsworth are the executive producers. It’s currently filming in Baton Rouge. The April 5 release date puts it in direct competition with Shazam.
Here’s a synopsis: In the early days of WWII, an international convoy of 37 Allied ships, led by captain Ernest Krause (Hanks) in his first command of a U.S. destroyer, crosses the treacherous North Atlantic while hotly pursued by wolf packs of Nazi U-boats.
The reboot of The Grudge will simply be called Grudge. It arrives on August 16, 2019. It will be directed by Nicolas Pesce (Eyes of My Mother) from a script he co-wrote with Jeff Buhler. It stars Andrea Riseborough, Demian Bichir and John Cho. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce for Ghost House with Nathan Kahane and Erin Westerman executive producing for Good Universe alongside Schuyler Weiss, Roy Lee, Doug Davison, John Middleton, and Andrew Pfeffer. It begins shooting in May.
