Lucasfilm has announced that Marvel Comics will publish a new Star Wars comic book series for the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park that will open at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort later this year. The comic is set to debut later this April. It’s written by Ethan Sacks (Star Wars: Age of Republic) and drawn by Will Sliney (Solo: A Star Wars Story comic one-shot adaptation). Cover art will be provided by Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm artists.

The comic will be set at the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu similar to the theme park. This is the place where pirates, smugglers, merchants and people from across the galaxy go to sell their wares. It’s set as a five-issue miniseries and will feature Dok-Ondar, an Ithorian collector of rare antiquities. The story will depict what happens when the First ORder reaches the edge of wild space. The official details released by Lucasfilm also mention the outpost being saved by a job involving Han Solo and Chewbacca.

Speaking on the comic, writer Sacks stated: “Our series will give fans the chance to visit Black Spire Outpost months ahead of voyaging to Batuu in person. Armed with top-secret sketches and information from Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, we are keeping this authentic to the spirit of this rich new setting. I’d tell you more, but I already have the death sentence on 12 systems…”

Lucasfilm also provided the first look at concept design variant cover art featuring the character Dok-Ondar. The art was designed by Karl Lindberg and Ian McCaig for the first issue of the comic miniseries. The comic will launch later this spring.
