While Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing character will remain a conservative when it returns, he won’t be giving any pro-Donald Trump monologues. TV Line reports that FOX executive Gary Newman told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that there will be no specific references to the current President of the United States.

“The producers’ plans are simply not to address whether or not he might be a Trump supporter,” Newman said. “That could change during the season, but there are no plans at this time…Clearly he’s a character with a conservative viewpoint.”

Allen’s lead character, Mike Baxter, is a conservative on the show, which echoes Allen’s own beliefs. When Last Man Standing was canceled in 2017 by ABC, there were some (including Allen) who suggested that his and his characters’ politics may have played a factor, despite ABC’s statement providing scheduling plans and financial reasons for the cancellation.

The show will return on FOX on September 28th at 8 PM ET/PT.
