Netflix returns to Shadyside next month with Fear Street: Prom Queen and the first trailer turns the clock back to the 1980s. The streaming service released the first trailer for the slasher film, and you can check it out below.

The trailer reveals that this new film is set in the town depicted in the Fear Street trilogy that released in the summer of 2020, smack dab between Fear Street: 1978 and Fear Street: 1994 as we head to Shadyside High during prom season as the girls all vie for votes to become prom queen. Of course, it’s not that simple as the race for votes heats up, candidates begin getting knocked off by a masked killer.

The new film is directed by Matt Palmer from a script he co-wrote with Donald McLeary based on the novel by R. L. Stine. Releasing on May 23rd on Netflix, it stars India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Ariana Greenblatt, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston. The synopsis reads:

Welcome back to Shadyside. In this next installment of the blood-soaked Fear Street franchise, prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider puts herself in the running, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.
