Unused Ghostbusters Theme Song Makes Its Way Online

It’s almost impossible to think of the original 1984 movie Ghostbusters without hearing Ray Parker Jr’s iconic theme song. But there were other songs under consideration for the title track and one of those has made its way online. Former Deep Purple and Trapeze bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes and guitarist Pat Thrall, collectively known as Hughes/Thrall, also did a version of the song in 1983. Thrall posted the song to his Soundcloud.
He wrote: “This is the demo Hughes/Thrall and Peter Aykroyd pitched for the movie. It was declined. There has a been a version posted on YouTube claiming to be the HT demo but it wasn’t. Here for the first time it is finally posted. The guy that mixed it had been awake for a week on cocaine. It is one of the worst mixes ever.”
