X-Men: First Class Writer To Adapt Red Sonja

Deadline reports that Ashley Edward Miller (X-Men: First Class, Thor) has been hired to adapt the comic Red Sonja for Millennium Films. Millennium will prdouce with Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon of Cinelou, Christa Campbell & Lati Grobman and Red Sonja rights holder Luke Lieberman. Joe Gatta will executive produce for Millennium.

Red Sonja began in the 1970s and is still published today by Dynamite Entertainment. It was put into development by Avi Lerner after the success of Wonder Woman (which earned $821.8 million worldwide).

Miller said: “It’s an exciting opportunity to faithfully adapt the amazing Hyborean world Robert E. Howard created, and inject it with Sonja’s intelligence, ferocity, and fearless humanity. I want people to love Sonja the way I love her, and walk out of the theater understanding why she’s so popular and enduring. Sonja is an icon.”
