Zack Snyder Reveals Zoe Saldana Nearly Played Lois Lane In Man of Steel
Amy Adams has played the iconic Lois Lane in three DCEU films to date, but it was almost someone else entirely. Zack Snyder spoke with Comic Book Debate for a new interview and revealed that Zoe Saldana was nearly cast in the role for Man of Steel.
“Amy actually inspired that opening scene in Batman v Superman,” Snyder said. “She mentioned journalists who have been in war zones and we went along with it. At a time, it was between her and Zoe Saldana … They’re totally different, but their presence is super strong.”
Saldana, of course, has gone on to comic book movie success herself as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, so things have worked out pretty well for her even without playing one of comics’ most famous reporters.
Snyder also said that Warner Bros. initially didn’t want Wonder Woman to appear in Batman V Superman, saying he pushed for it: “Everyone thought it was too soon but I felt like it was time and it was inevitable.”
When asked if Wonder Woman would’ve been made without him, Snyder demurred, saying, “I don’t know! [laughs] Maybe, maybe not… I just know that Wonder Woman was a unique and amazing opportunity. I’m happy and proud of the work behind the film. I’m happy that it worked out the way that it did.”
