The Review
Segment 1: Val In Action
(Val Venis vs. Nick Berk)
Todd Grisham, along with Jonathan Coachman, welcome us to Heat as Charlie Haas’ music hits. Haas and Viscera come out to a nice pop? I thought they were heels now since they took out Lillian Garcia. On a related note, Maria is once again doing the announcing on Heat.
Haas and Hutter start off in the ring. Haas quickly attacks, but Hutter scurries to the ropes. Hutter locks in a bearlock, but Haas counters with one of his own and then slams Hutter to the mat. Haas delivers some right hands and applies a facelock, and Hutter unsuccessfully fights back with two right hands. Charlie hits a knee to the gut, and whips Hutter into the ropes and hits a side kick. Haas gets in a stomp and tags in Viscera, to the delight of the crowd. Hutter gets sent into the ropes, and Haas hits a drop toe hold and Viscera quickly nails a leg drop shortly thereafter.
Hutter makes it over to his corner and tags in Cronus, who charges towards Viscera and throws some weak punches, while getting no where. Cronus tries to whip Viscera into the ropes, but Viscera counters by pulling Cronus back and giving him a clothesline. Vis picks him up and gives Cronus some chops. He then Irish Whips Cronus, and hits an elbow to knock him down and then a leg drop. Haas tags in and delivers two kicks to the back and then a knee to the face. Charlie picks him up and slams Cronus’ face into the turnbuckle, where the two trade punches until Haas delivers a suplex. Haas pounds away with some clubs to the back, and then picks Cronus up and applies a headlock. Cronus gets in a few punches, but Haas hits a knee and whips him into the ropes. Haas waits for him to come off the ropes so he can give him a back body drop, but Cronus holds on to the ropes and then nails a kick to the face.
Hutter tags back in a misses a clothesline, with Haas hitting a German Suplex instead. Hutter dramatically sells it, and Viscera tags in. The two whip Hutter into the corner, where Cronus was still recovering. Viscera taunts to the crowd and Haas whips him into both Cronus and Hutter. Viscera taunts once again, and picks up Hutter and places him upon his shoulders as Haas climbs to the top rope. Haas delivers a dropkick to Hutter (though I’m convinced he hit Viscera instead) and Viscera gives him a Samoan Drop for the victory at 4:55.
We finish up with a promo for Summerslam.
Match Result: Charlie Haas and Viscera defeat Michael Hunter and Chris Cronus with a diving dropkick/Samoan Drop combination.
Match Length: 4:55
Best Spot: The dropkick/Samoan Drop combo.
Segment 2: Dueling Divas
(Victoria vs. Torrie Wilson)
Torrie Wilson’s music hits and she makes her way to the ring. “I ain’t the lady to mess with!” Victoria enters the ring. They lockup to start, and Victoria locks in a headlock. She applies an arm wrench, sends Torrie into the ropes, but Torrie counters with a huracanrana as she comes off of them. Victoria gets to here feet, and Torrie locks in an arm wrench. Victoria tries to get to the ropes, but Torrie throws her into the ropes and then kicks Victoria in the gut to knock her to the outside. Victoria stands up, but Torrie charges and hits a baseball slide. Torrie CLIMBS UPON THE TOP ROPE, but Victoria scurries away outside the ring.
Torrie quickly exits the ring and attacks with a clothesline. Wilson throws Victoria back into the ring, but Victoria gets to her feet before Torrie can capitalize. Victoria attempts to kick Torrie in the gut, but Wilson catches her foot, and spins her around and delivers an atomic drop. Torrie gives a stomp, and then picks up limping Victoria and whips her into the ropes. As Victoria comes off of them she counters with a boot to the face, which sends Torrie to the mat. Victoria hits a clothesline and hits the Widow’s Peak for the victory at 1:51.
An advertisement for WWE Magazine is aired.
Match Result: Victoria defeats Torrie Wilson with the Widow’s Peak.
Match Length: 1:51
Best Spot: Torrie’s baseball slide.
Segment 2: Tag Tangle
(Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. Val Venis & Snitsky)
Generic Southern music hits, and Cade & Murdoch make their way to the ring. “HELLOOOOO LADIES!” Val Venis’ music hits, and out comes Val, along with Snitsky. Val gets a big pop, as always, and gives his towel to a woman ringside. Val and Cade start off in the ring, and they lock up to begin. Cade quickly gets in an elbow to the face and then a club to the back, knocking Venis to his knees. Cade delivers another elbow, and then runs off the ropes with a forearm. Venis gets to his feet by using the ropes, but Cade whips Val into the opposite set of ropes. Val comes off of them, and counters with a kick to the face and then a clothesline. Murdoch enters the ring, but Val ducks a clothesline and hits an atomic drop. Snitsky now comes into the ring and nails a double clothesline on both Cade and Murdoch. Val then clotheslines Cade to the outside, followed by Snistky delivering a clothesline to Murdoch and sending him out of the ring. Venis and Snitsky play to the crowd and wait for Cade and Murdoch to re-enter the ring.
Cade comes back in, charges towards Val, and hits a knee to the gut. Cade gives him a club to the back and tags Murdoch in. Cade holds Venis as Murdoch delivers a chop. Murdoch gets a punch to the head, and sends Venis into the ropes and does Val’s running knee. Murdoch gives him a running knee once again and then goes for an arm breaker, but Val fights out of it with a few right hands and then nails two of his running knees. Venis hits a Russian Leg Sweep and then “shakes his money maker” and pounds away on Murdoch. The ref breaks them up and Murdoch becomes frustrated with himself. Trevor wants Snitsky, and Val tags him in.
Snitsky enters and taunts at Murdoch, but Cade distracts him from the apron and Murdoch attacks from behind. Trevor begins pounding away in the corner. Snitsky reverses an Irish whip into one of his own and sends Murdoch into the corner. Trevor bounces off the turnbuckle, and Snitsky hits a hip toss and then a scoop slam. Cade comes in and walks right into a right hand. Snitsky hits an elbow drop onto Murdoch, which is good for a two count. Murdoch gets to his feet and Snistky leads him towards the ropes so he can whip him across the ring, but Cade tags in without Snitsky noticing. Snitsky completes the Irish Whip and Murdoch hits a boot to the face. Cade picks him up, and Murdoch charges and nails a big boot. Cade hits several right hands and then chokes Snitsky twice, until the referee breaks them up. Cade picks him up and uses the ropes to choke Snitsky with, and then tags in Murdoch.
The two shove Snitsky into the corner, and Murdoch hits a right hand. Cade quickly tags back in and they shove Snitsky again into the corner, and Cade stomps away. Lance picks up Snitsky and they trade blows, until Cade knees him in the gut and nails a clothesline. Cade taunts, and hits a big boot which sends Snitsky into the ropes, but Snitsky comes off of them and delivers a big boot of him own, knocking both men down. Both Val and Murdoch desperately want in and Snitsky makes the tag right before Cade could get to him and stop him.
Val comes in the ring and cleans house with clotheslines and elbows. Venis nails a scoop slam onto Cade and a back body drop onto Murdoch. Cade reverses an Irish Whip into one of his own, but Val counters with a half nelson slam. Val makes the cover, but Murdoch breaks it up after a one count. Snitsky comes into the ring and clothesline’s Trevor out of the ring. Cade and Val battle in the corner, but Cade rakes the eye. The referee turns his back and deals with Snitsky, and as that’s happening, Murdoch makes his way into the ring and the two hit the High and Low. Cade makes the cover and picks up the victory at 7:10.
Match Result: Lace Cade and Trevor Murdoch defeat Val Venis and Snitsky with the High and Low.
Match Length: 7:10
Best Spot: The High and Low.
Segment 4: Conway vs. Eugene
(Rob Conway vs. Eugene)
“Just look at me, oh just look at me. Ain’t I a sight to see?” Rob Conway enters and makes his way towards the ring. Eugene’s music hits and he comes out to a big pop. Eugene hugs the referee and plays to the crowd before the match starts. Eugene wants to shake hands, but Conway slaps it away. The two lockup, but Conway quickly applies a headlock, and then rolls up Eugene for a one count. They lockup again, and Conway locks in an arm wrench, which then turns into an armbar as Eugene falls to the mat. Eugene gets back to his feet, and attempts to roll out of the arm wrench and applies one of his own. Conway counters by throwing Eugene to the mat. Rob misses an elbow, and Eugene capitalizes with two more arm wrenches.
Conway reverses an Irish Whip into one of his own and then leaps over a charging Eugene. Conway lays down on the mat, hoping that Eugene would leap over, but he tricks Conway by hiding behind him. Conway turns around and Eugene pokes him in the eye, and then slides out of the ring. Eugene taunts, so Conway charges and slides out of the ring to go after him, but Eugene slides back in. He taunts again, and Conway slides back in as Eugene slides back out. Conway slides out once again, but this time Eugene runs around the ring and then around the apron. Conway chases him the whole time and the two finally end up back in the ring.
Eugene ducks a clothesline and nails an inverted atomic drop. He then goes for the stunner, but Conway shoves him away towards the ref, but Eugene holds up in time. Eugene turns around and Conway nails a diving forearm. Rob stomps away and then delivers several right hands to the head. A small “Eugene” chant begins, and Eugene gets to his feet, but Conway hits a clothesline for two. Conway picks him up and nails a big right hand. Rob picks him up again, whips him into the ropes, and hits a back elbow. He nails an elbow drop and makes the cover twice, both of them good for two.
Conway applies an abdominal stretch, and Eugene gets to his feet, but Rob nails a kick to the gut. Conway whips him into the ropes, but Eugene counters with a kick to the face. Eugene charges, but Conway nails a powerslam for two. Rob picks up Eugene and slams his face into the top turnbuckle, but to no avail. He does it again, but it has the same result. Conway does it once more, but Eugene begins to “Eugene-Up” and delivers a combination of lefts and rights. Eugene winds up and goes for a right hand, but Conway delivers a dropkick before he could do so. Rob makes the cover, but only gets a two count.
Conway picks Eugene up, but Eugene reverses and places him upon his shoulder, and then does the airplane spin. Eugene goes for the Rock Bottom, but Rob fights out with some elbows. Conway charges, but Eugene counters with a spinebuster. Eugene sets up for The People’s Elbow, but Conway gets up in time. Eugene blocks a kick to the gut and Eugene nails the Stunner for the victory at 6:57.
Match Result: Eugene defeats Rob Conway with the Stunner.
Match Length: 6:57
Best Spot: Eugene’s Stunner.
Decent edition of Heat this week, at least a good one for me to go out on; Slimmer returns next week and everything should be back to normal. Until next time…
