Kevin Nash Says Losing Arn Anderson To Injury Hurt WCW More Than People Realize

On the latest episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash talked about an overlooked factor in WWE overtaking WCW — the loss of Arn Anderson to the neck injury that ended his career — and recalled being at the gym when it happened. You can check out some highlights below:
On Anderson:
“People talk about the things that changed the momentum for WWE to overtake WCW, and I think one of the things that was huge that’s missed often is when Arn got f**ked up. I don’t know where we were the night before, but I remember Arn and I were at the Gold’s Gym on Flamingo in Vegas, and Arn was doing shoulder presses. He went to f**king just warm up with some 20s in his hand, and one arm went up and the other one didn’t move. At just stayed at his shoulder, and he was like, ‘Motherf**ker.’
“And we’ve all had brachial plexus injuries, and he just — you know, usually you get a med pack, the swelling goes down in the nerve, and you get sensation back. He just didn’t, and he had to have his neck done. Losing Arn — because not only was Arn a ring general and could f**king run young talent and teach young talent, Arn’s psychology was amazing. Like, Arn had f**king impeccable psychology. So losing him as part of the team, that hurt us. And having guys like Kevin Nash being a dick and f**king with him probably didn’t help the situation.”
On the Brain Busters:
“When I got to Atlanta, they used to have six hours of wrestling on Saturdays, and it was just so classic. It’d be like WWE, WCW, Memphis, and then it would go to some gut — it would end up with Georgia Championship Wrestling with like Festus. And I mena, the worse it got, the more I enjoyed it.
“I just always thought the Horsemen shtick was good. Once I became a student and started getting VHS tapes and watching some of the angles they did where the Horsemen messed up Dusty’s arm in the car, Some of the s**t they did — I think that Arn and Tully as a tag team were really f**king underrated. They were so f**king good.”
