411’s TNA Global Impact Report 5.10.06

May 10, 2006 | Posted by Larry Csonka

You can watch the episode by clicking this link. After You Tube crashing last week, TNA have moved this to an onsite flash player of some sort. The screen is much smaller, but quality is good. The only draw back is that there is no bar that lets you skip ahead or go back. The show is around 20-minutes long.

We get a hype video for Impact this week, where Sting’s partner will be revealed.

Jeremy Borash and Christy Hemme welcome us to week two of Global Impact. They hype Impact this week as well as the PPV. Hemme wants to know, she’s hungry even to know. I got something for her to munch on.

  • They show a Kevin Nash out take from the interview. Shelley puts over the X Cup, and Nash says he’s obviously the captain. He tells Alex that, “It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s if you get paid or not. And make sure you shine and get yourself over, especially at your teammates expense. Let them do all the work and get warmed up, they you get the blind tag and make the pin. Also, watch that Sonjay kid.”

    Part II airs tomorrow night.

  • We see another cool Sen Shi video. He will dominate the X-Division once again. For those wondering, he is finishing up his Japan commitments, and will be with TNA full time after that.

Non-Title Match: Samoa Joe © vs. Chase Stevens

Chase tries to get the crowd all excited, they lock up and Joe takes him to a corner and breaks. They circle, Chase thinks about his coming death as they lock up again and to a corner they go and Chase breaks clean this time. Kicks by Joe now, rights by Chase. Off the ropes and a clothesline by Chase. Running kick by Chase to the head of Joe. Rights to Joe, Chase tries to keep him rocked. Off the ropes…atomic drop by Joe…running yakuza followed by the running senton for 2. Joe picks him up, Chase with rights but Joe lights him up with chops. Irish whip…RUNNING KNEE OF DOOM! Face wash…RUNNING kick about kills Chase.

We get a quick break (30 Seconds or so) for the Final Resolution DVD.

Joe has Chase locked in am arm bar variation. Chase fights to his feet, elbows out but Joe takes him right back down. Rights again by Chase, but Joe kills him with a dropkick for 2. Arm bar again by Joe, Chase battles out and Joe with a sleeper. Chase fades…the ref checks his arm, once…twice…the third stays up and he starts to battle again. To his feet, escapes and jabs by Joe and Chase battles back. Off the ropes…basement dropkick and a roll up for 2. Flying forearm by Chase, leg lariat now and he gets 2. Chase up top…but Joe crotches him. Slaps by Joe…MUSCLE BUSTA countered! Joe levels him with a clothesline, and then a dropkick to the back of the head for 2. Head butts by Joe, Chase tries a go behind but Joe escapes right into the choke and that is all!

Winner: Samoa Joe @ 6:47 via submission

  • Solid match here. I like that they are trying to give Stevens some individual personality. They also let him get in some offense against Joe, which was good since he is a former 2-time NWA Tag Champion.

We get highlights of when Chris Rock made an appearance in TNA during the Nashville days.

  • So Cal Val is with Jerry Lynn. She says he named Sabin as the Team USA captain. He says he knows what he can do (we see footage of Sabin) and he says it was an easy choice. It will only help Sabin. Sonjay brings some great highflying, Lethal is so young but has so much potential and Shelley is a troublemaker, but he is a great mat technician. They discuss the team miscommunication, and Lynn says he hopes Sabin can take care of it. They will kick some ass.

  • A Sacrifice promo runs.
  • Jim Mitchell cuts a promo on Cage. “Abyss has the title, and if you want it, just show up and try to take it!”

JB and Hemme are back and they talk about her Knockout footage. On Impact tomorrow we will find out who is Sting’s partner?

  • We get highlights on Hemme’s first photo shoot. She has like, 1/8th of a t-shirt on and small ass shorts. I approve. Lots of bouncing, I approve again. We see some other good shots as we close the show.

Closing thoughts: Another fun episode. We got a solid match with Joe and Stevens as well as good hype for the PPV. It goes by really fast and is a nice addition to Impact, I just hope that they hype it more and can use it to it’s full potential.
