AEW star Adam Copeland has just landed his next big acting role. Variety reports that Adam Copeland has joined the cast of the upcoming sequel, The Beekeeper 2, opposite MCU alum Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Infinity War, and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning) and Jason Statham.
The film is the sequel to the 2024 hit action movie, The Beekeeper, which starred Statham as Adam Clay, a former member of an elite group of covert agents called the Beekeepers. After the tragic death of a friend, Clay returns to action to dispense some righteous retribution.
Other returning cast members for the sequel include Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, and Jemma Redgrave. Yara Shahidi also joins the cast for the film. It will be released worldwide by Amazon MGM Studios and produced and financed by Miramax.
Plot details on The Beekeeper 2 are currently being kept under wraps, but the film has reportedly started production. The sequel is directed by Nobody 2 helmer Timo Tjahjanto with a script by Kurt Wimmer, who also wrote the first film. It’s produced by Jason Statham under his Punch Palace Productions banner, Chris Long under Longshot Productions, and Wimmer.
As previously noted, Adam Copeland was recently written off AEW TV, saying he was unsure if he would return. It was later reported that Copeland was off TV for filming commitments for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, where he will reprise his role as Ares, God of War.
The first film grossed over $162 million worldwide off a $40 million budget, making it a sizable hit. The Beekeeper 2, featuring Adam Copeland and Jason Statham, does not yet have a release date. The first film is streaming now on Prime Video.
