Amir Jordan Says Getting Into Wrestling Wasn’t Initially A Career Choice
– Amir Jordan spoke with Examiner Live for a new interview about joining NXT UK and more. Highlights are below:
On getting into the wrestling industry: “At the time it wasn’t a career choice, where I was thinking about giving up my job. Wrestling’s not exactly the career where you can make a lot of money, especially as an independent starting out. It was a bit of a transition, with me thinking let me see how I end up doing with this stuff and then make a decision. But it was never in my mind that it would become my full time job, to where we are today.”
On falling in love with wrestling while watching tapes of matches with his grandparents in the mid-90s: “I was hooked from then. From then it was a constant fight for the TV remote and whether I could watch wrestling or not. We didn’t have Sky Sports or anything so I couldn’t watch WWE, but then we got a computer and I could seek out any wrestler on Youtube. I always wanted to try my hand at wrestling so I started training while I was still in my job in London.”
On NXT giving him opportunities: “There’s potential in the future to go out to America The start of NXT UK is the beginning of a potential global programme. They’re starting to launch it in regions around the world. The aim for WWE is to try and take it to different audiences around the world.”
On wanting to perform in his hometown: “I’ve always wanted to do that but unfortunately never had the chance to perform in my own home town. Maybe it will happen one day.”
