Backstage Note on Belief Around Future Of WWE’s July Saudi Arabia PLE

WWE has a PLE set for Saudi Arabia in July, but there is a belief that it may not happen due to the Iranian war, according to a new report. As has been noted, WWE has two shows that have not yet officially been announced set for 2026. This is in addition to the Royal Rumble, which happened in January, and WrestleMania 43, which is scheduled for next year.

According to F4W Online’s Bryan Alvarez, there have been “discussions” about the upcoming two shows that were prompted by the current war in Iran. Israel and the United States launched an attack on Iran on February 28th, with the conflict spreading to other countries in the region after Iran struck American bases on allies including Saudi Arabia.

Alvarez noted on Friday that there had only been “discussions” and that no decisions have been made. He was clear to point out that he wasn’t reporting on cancellations or the notion of anything getting cancelled in the future, only that discussions were had about the shows’ status. Dave Meltzer then noted in Sunday’s daily update that — while again saying nothing was decided or officially said — most in the company are “under the impression” that the July PLE is unlikely to happen if things don’t improve.

Meltzer pointed out that this was no different from other events in the country like F1, UFC, or boxing. WWE has not yet officially announced the show for July, though losing it would mean a significant income loss as the Kingdom reportedly pays $55 million per PLE.
