As previously reported, AEW star Wardlow suffered a torn pectoral injury just after making his return at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in August. Fightful Select Answers Q&A has an update on the former TNT Champion.

According to Sean Ross Sapp, when last asking AEW about Wardlow, the wrestler is not expected back before the end of the year. It’s said that many people were bummed out in the company when Wardlow suffered his injury right after he returned after so much time away from AEW.

The New York Sports Medicine Institute notes that healing and recovery time for a torn pectoral can vary depending on the grade of the tear. Also, if the injury is repaired with surgery, a torn pectoral muscle can take from six months to a year to heal.

Wardlow was previously away from AEW for over a year due to injury. After he was cleared, he opted to stay away longer due to filming the American Gladiators reboot for Amazon MGM Studios.

Fightful Select previously reported that it was possible that Wardlow could remain on TV in an enforcer role, but that has not been the case. Additionally, it was rumored that Wardlow’s injury affected creative plans for AEW, as he was reportedly penciled to face Hangman Page for the AEW World Title at All Out. Instead, that match went to Kyle Fletcher.

It’s unknown when Wardlow will be able to return to the ring in AEW.
