Fightful Select has a new report on another major rumored return for the WWE Royal Rumble 2022 this weekend. Per the report, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle is slated to be in St. Louis, Missouri this weekend. St. Louis is the host city for this weekend’s Rumble event, and it appears a return for Angle to WWE might be in the works.

There are no additional details available yet on there being a plan for Angle at the Rumble, but WWE sources reportedly confirmed that Angle will be in St. Louis. However, WWE is also planning community, press events, and content projects for this weekend, and Angle will reportedly be a part of those events. Also, there have been reported discussions for Angle to return as an onscreen presence to WWE.

In addition, Angle is part of Conrad Thompson’s podcast network, and Thompson will be running live shows this weekend as well. The report noted that Angle’s presence in St. Louis is unrelated to Thompson’s live shows. WWE sources are said to have only confirmed that they were planning to have Angle in St. Louis for the Rumble weekend.

WWE previously released Kurt Angle from his producer role as part of pandemic-related budget cuts in April 2020. He did make an appearance on WWE TV after his release later that year.

The WWE Royal Rumble 2022 is set for Saturday, January 29 at The Dome at America’s Center. It will be broadcast live on Peacock in the US and the WWE Network everywhere else.
