Braun Strowman Discusses No Longer Having His Hands Creatively Tied, Says His Scripts Sometimes ‘Sucked’ in WWE

As previously reported, former WWE Superstar and Universal Champion Braun Strowman (aka Adam Scherr) recently launched his own production company, Meat Castle Media, in partnership with Magilla Entertainment and producing partner Nick Antonicelli. During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s Tony Maglio, Strowman discussed the new venture. Below are some highlights from THR:
Braun Strowman on No Longer Having His Hands Creatively Tied Like in WWE
“For me, the big eye-opening thing was not having my hands tied. They’ve allowed me to be me, whereas I’ve had my hands were tied creatively for the last 12 years (in WWE), and while that’s not a bad thing — I was very blessed with what I got to do — but at the end of the day, I was playing a character on a show, and sometimes the script sucked. I mean, no offense, I hated it, but I had to go in there and make the best of it because that was my job. Well, now with this opportunity… my creative input is welcomed, it’s not dismissed.”
His Thoughts on His New Production Team
“My brain is crazy. I think outside the box, I’m moving 10 steps ahead of where I’m at in life, always, which is good and bad. But having this team behind me… to help with my vision— my brain’s kind of like a disco ball with a light shined on it. There’s beams just going everywhere. With this team, they’re able to dial me in and steer me in the right direction while still allowing my creative liberties and my freedoms to be.”
On Never Being One to Idolize Other Wrestlers
“I’ve never been really one that, like, idolizes anybody’s career. All through the wrestling stuff, I never tried to be any other wrestler. I never wanted to be the next Undertaker or the next Big Show. I wanted to be the first Braun Strowman. It’s very inspiring, but… I don’t want to be the next Rock, I don’t want to be the next Batista. I want to be the first Adam Scherr — and I am.”
Everything on the Menu Season 2, hosted by Strowman, will debut on USA Network in early summer. Season 2 of the hit series will consist of 12 episodes.
