Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez Always Meant To Run Short, But Velasquez’s Knee Forced Change
November 1, 2019 | Posted by
As you may have witnessed at WWE Crown Jewel, Brock Lesnar defeated Cain Velasquez in just over two minutes by making him tap out to the Kimura Lock. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was always the plan for Lesnar to win a short match, however, Velasquez’s knee forced them to go even shorter than planned. The knee was said to be “worse than expected.”
The idea was that Paul Heyman laid out a match similar to Brock’s match with Goldberg, a quick burst with a lot of big moves, but since the knee was hurt the match was changed to what it was. The belief is that he needs surgery. It’s unknown if he’ll still compete in Mexico City as planned.
