Brooklyn Brawler Recalls Appearing at WrestleMania V, Says He Never Minded Putting People Over

– The former Brooklyn Brawler, Steve Lombardi, shared his memories of competing at WrestleMania V in a new interview with the Niagra Falls Review. Some highlights are below:

On being a perennial talent enhancement: “It’s so interesting to me how people can say, ‘Oh, you lost, you lost, you lost.’ I didn’t mind putting anybody over. It turns out, when you’re the underdog, you end up getting the biggest wins. I beat Triple H. I had The Rock’s very first match. I beat Ultimate Warrior one time. It’s like the Rocky movies. Rocky was an underdog to Apollo Creed. If he wasn’t an underdog, it wouldn’t be as good of a story.”

On the WrestleMania 35 main event: “I love the idea that the girls stepped it up. The girls were never like that when I was in the business. There was Sherri Martel, there was Moolah. Now, these girls are great athletes. Like, Charlotte Flair … that girl used to beat every boy in school, from kid to now. She’s amazing. And now you’ve got Ronda Rousey in there. She’s coming from a different world.”

On his appearance at WrestleMania 35: “It’s like magic. It’s not an event, it’s an experience when you’re there. Just the crowd …when you’re in the ring, you can’t even relate to your audience because it just goes on forever. I’m telling you, it’s insane.”
