Chael Sonnen Says He Despises John Cena

Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen doesn’t appear to hold a very high opinion of former WWE Superstar and WWE Champion John Cena. Cena shared a motivational message yesterday via social media, which drew a blunt response from Sonnen.

Cena initially wrote in his post, “Strive for a relationship environment that allows disagreement without fear.” Later, Sonnen wrote in response, “I despise you.”

Sonnen’s post might’ve been written in jest, as WWE producer Shane Helms later responded to Sonnen’s post with some laughing emojis. Sonnen later added, “WHAT’S UP WITH THAT!” You can view that exchange below.

It should be noted that Sonnen is a long-time wrestling fan. Throughout his UFC career, he often liked to intentionally play the “heel,” taking inspiration from pro wrestlers.

Also, Chael Sonnen has taken shots at John Cena on social media beforehand. Several years ago, Cena wrote on his X account, “Focus and goals are important in evolving and growth. Make sure during the investment of this or ANY journey to never take yourself too seriously.” Sonnen responded, “Easy for somebody nobody takes seriously to say.”

Cena currently stars in the new live-action/animated feature, Coyote vs. Acme, now playing in theaters. You can check out 411’s official review of the motion picture RIGHT HERE.
