Chelsea Green Explains Why She’s Glad It Took Her As Long As It Did to Make It In WWE

Chelsea Green had a long road to success in WWE, but she’s glad it took her as long as it did to make it. Green is riding high in the company, reigning as a two-time Women’s US Champion and co-holding the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships with Ethan Page.
But it took Green a long time to get there in WWE from her first appearance back in 2014 as Bryan Danielson’s “psychical therapist.” Green competed on Tough Enough that same year but failed to win. She signed with the company in 2018 and competed in NXT. However, an injury in her Smackdown debut set her back and she was released in 2021. Green reflected on the matter in an interview with The Bobbycast and explained why it ultimately worked out better for her. You can see some highlights below:
On Her Long Road to WWE:
“It’s funny, because I worked so hard for the past almost 12 years to get to WWE. Now that I’m here I realize, thank god I didn’t get here in 2014. Thank god it took me this long, because that is why the fans are behind me.”
On Her Fan Support:
“They know my story; they followed me getting fired multiple times, they followed me not winning Tough Enough. They followed me when I was on the independent scene and struggling, and trying to come up with these characters. Or at TNA as the Hot Mess. And that is why they want so badly to see me climb this ladder, because I’m not the chosen one. And it’s very obvious I’m not the chosen one. And I like that for me, but for years I wanted so badly for that to be me.”
