AEW terminated the contract of CM Punk on Saturday following his backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In in London last weekend, and Punk, of course, was involved in another high profile backstage incident with The Elite last year following AEW All Out, but Cassidy Haynes of BodySlam.net reports that Punk also got into an altercation with William Regal following Regal’s debut in AEW at AEW Revolution in 2022.
According to the report, Punk refused to shake Regal’s hand backstage at the show and went as far as to get in Regal’s face, tell him he didn’t like him or trust him, and accused him of being a “stooge” for Triple H. Regal has generally been thought of as a backstage leader for a large part of his career.
Punk beat MJF in a dog collar match at AEW Revolution 2022.
Regal’s run in AEW didn’t go beyond 2022, as AEW let him out of his contract, opening the door for him to return to WWE in a backstage role.
