Texano vs. Phil Atlas: They lock up and Atlas follows with a series of arm drags. Texano fakes handshake, hits a cheap shot and takes control, hitting a shoulder block and running senton. Texano follows with chops, but Atlas fights back, picks up the pace and lays in kicks, the snot rocket, and senton for 2. Texano now misses the knee strike and spills to the floor. Atlas follows with a suicide dive. Back in and Atlas up top for the high cross, but eats the dropkick. Texano takes control, grounding the action. Atlas fights to his feet and hits a pair of RANAs. Texano then decapitates him with a lariat. Texano grabs his rope, the ref takes it and Atlas cuts him off and heads up top. Texano cuts him off with knees and hits a fireman’s carry into a back breaker for the win. Texano defeated Phil Atlas @ 6:00 via pin [**] This was an ok match, with a lacking layout and disjointed action at times. Texano is fine most times, but for as good as he is at working up to a great opponent, he’s just as bad at working down to an average opponent.

– We now go Around the Ring with Eddie Edwards. This was taped when Edwards was the GHC Champion. Edwards talks about his love of Boston Sports and Tom Brady. Josh ribs him about the Boston sports thing, and Edwards admits for as much as he loved sports, he was a chubby kid and didn’t make most sports teams he tried out for. Moose walks by and Josh says Edwards hates Moose, trying to start trouble. Edwards says they travel together, and that Moose talks too much and is too loud during trips. They now discuss Edwards’ GHC title win, and that he was the first American to win that title. Edwards first went to NOAH when he was 21 and never felt it was realistic for him to win that title. He was honored to defend that title around the world, and in North America for the first time. He’s into playing old games

From Genesis 2013: James Storm vs. Christopher Daniels : Lock up to begin, side headlock takedown and back to the feet they go. Storm takes Daniels back down with the headlock, Daniels to his feet, off the ropes and a shoulder block by Storm. Hip toss follows, and another side headlock takedown follows. Daniels with the head scissors counter, Storm escape sand back into the side headlock. Daniels escapes, works the arm now and then Storm trips him up and slams him to the mat. Storm clotheslines Daniels to the floor, and Kaz calls a timeout. Storm to the floor, beats down Daniels with rights and back into the ring they go. Daniels begs off, rights by Storm follow, no mercy. Backdrop by Storm follows, and then beats down Daniels in the corner with rights. The ref backs off Storm, and that allows Kaz to distract Storm, and Daniels sends Storm to the barricade after works in the arm. Kaz beats down Storm on the floor, and then tosses him back in. Daniels works the arm, hammerlock and then slams Storm shoulder first into the corner. Daniels continues to work with arm with a top wristlock, and takes Storm to the mat. Storm with kicks from the mat, to his feet, but Daniels pokes him in the eyes and gets a shoulder block and covers for 2. Kicks to the shoulder by Daniels, arm drag follows and hangs onto the arm and continues the punishment. Daniels to the apron and slingshots in with an elbow drop to the shoulder. Daniels works a variation of the crossface, Storm gets the ropes and gets the break. Daniels back to the standing arm bar, Storm works to his feet and delivers rights to try and break the hold. More rights follow, off the ropes and Daniels back to the arm bar. Knee by Storm, Russian leg sweep connects and both men are down. They trade rights as they get to their feet, Storm fires up and gets a forearm off the ropes. Atomic drop and clothesline follows. Knee buster, and then a running neck breaker. Storm chases off Kaz, up top and Storm hits the elbow drop and covers for a close 2! To the corner, Daniels counters a clothesline, then counters the lung blower and gets divorce court on Storm and covers for 2. Daniels sets, corner forearm follows. Charges Storm, gets set up top, and then Storm gets the eye of the Storm. Cover gets a close 2 again. Storm gets an enziguri, to the corner, and then gets am Alabama Slam. Lung blower also connects. Storm sets for the superkick, misses and Daniels gets angel’s wings! 1…2…NO! Daniels and Kaz are amazed that Storm kicked out. Daniels goes for the BME, eats a knee. Back stabber by Storm, lung blower follows that. He sets again, Kaz eats a superkick from Storm, and Daniels hits and STO, covers with his feet in the ropes and gets the win! Christopher Daniels defeated James Storm @ 14:00 via pin [***½] This was a very good match, and one of the best on this particular show. Daniels was a spectacular heel here playing the perfect foil for Storm’s resilient babyface character. They worked a strong layout, kept the crowd and just delivered, which should be no surprise considering who was involved.

X-Division Title Match: X Division Champion Taiji Ishimori vs. Desmond Xavier: Xavier beat Ishimori to with the Super X Cup, and is looking to make it two in a row to win the title here tonight. They work a tentative start, circling and then locking up. They work into a clean break, and lockup again. To the buckles and then they push and shove, Xavier gets a takedown, covering for 2. Ishimori with the takedown, he follows with arm drags, and then a crucifix for 2. Xavier is sent to the floor, back in and Xavier lays in kicks and a dropkick. Ishimori cuts him off and Xavier is sent to the floor. Xavier back in, and picks up a near fall. He follows with strikes in the corner, and then grounds the action. Xavier then works into a Muta lock variation; they work to the feet and trade strikes. Xavier cuts off the back handspring and follows with a suicide dive. Ishimori fell over the barricades and Xavier follows with a huge tope over the barricade, wiping out Ishimori. Post break, and they are trading strikes in the ring. Xavier follows with a bicycle kick; Xavier then hits a cutter after some rapid-fire strikes. Xavier now connects with running corner strikes, and the dropkick gets 2. Xavier now looks to go up top, but Ishimori cuts him off. He follows him up and hits a delayed superplex for 2. Xavier follows with rights, a back elbow but Ishimori hits a back handspring kick, covering for 2. Ishimori hits shotgun knees and a slam. The double stomp is cut off, Xavier up top and hits the final flash, but Ishimori kicks out. Xavier follows with a series of strikes, but Ishimori fires up but Xavier counters the dodon into the standing corkscrew splash for 2. Xavier hits an enziguri, but Ishimori hits the dodon and heads up top. The 450 splash finishes Xavier. Champion Taiji Ishimori defeated Desmond Xavier @ 16:33 via pin [***¼] This was a good back and forth match to open the show. They got plenty of time to work, and both guys worked really hard. They’ve still not had either man go all out yet, which is a shame, because they are capable of so much more.

– End Scene.

– Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Good

This week’s episode of XPLOSION was a good show. The XPLOSION exclusive match was ok, the throwback match was very good, and the recent Impact match was good stuff. Overall, this was a good way to spend 48-minutes, no complaints from me, especially considering that this is a B-show.
