– Undisputed Era opens with a promo, running down Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch for their performances last week. What a spectacular group of condescending assholes.
Kairi Sane vs. Shazza McKenzie: McKenzie is a SHIMMER regular and someone who I feel should be in the second Mae Young Classic. They shake hands and we’re friends to begin. Sane gets a roll up for 2, and then follows with a head scissors. Sane then hits the spear and sliding D. Sane up top and hits a flying elbow press. The insane elbow finishes things. Kairi Sane defeated Shazza McKenzie @ 1:45 via pin [NR] Sane picks up an easy win as she looks to get into the title picture. But she’ll have to deal with Lacey Evans again before that.
– Lacey Evans arrives and fakes being nice to Sane, issuing an apology; she then KOs Sane.
– We see last week’s attack by Ciampa on Gargano. Candice is here to give an update on Johnny, and she’s clearly upset. She says it’s been a rough year, and thought they had been through the worst, but Ciampa ruined things again. Candice is really good here, getting emotional as she talks about watching her husband being stretchered out last week.
– We get a Lars Sullivan video package.
TM61 (Miller & Thorne) vs. The Street Profits (Ford & Dawkins): Ford and Miller start us off. They work some back and forth, with Ford hitting a spin kick. The Profits take control, clearing the ring. Dawkins then works over Miller, but Miller cuts him off as Thorne hits a senton atomico. Double teams follow and Miller covers for 2. He then grounds things, Dawkins fights back and we get wholesale changes to Ford and Thorne. Ford runs wild, but Thorne rolls him up with the ropes and the help of Miller for the heelish win. TM61 defeated The Street Profits @ 3:15 via pin [**] This was a short, but ok match. I like the attitude change from TM61, as they needed something after losing in the Dusty Classic.
– We get a Heavy Machinery vs. War Raiders video package.
– Kassius Ohno comments on Ciampa’s attack on Gargano last week. He plans to take care of Ciampa.
Kona Reeves vs. Patrick Scott: Reeves takes control with a knee strike and rights. He talks shit and follows with a back elbow. Reeves beats on Scott in the corner, hits a gut wrench suplex and hits a fall away elbow drop and Hawaiian drop for the win. Kona Reeves defeated Patrick Scott @ 2:02 via pin [NR] A fine squash for Reeves, but I need to see more of him before I am sold on him. Right now, he comes across as very generic CAW.
– We get an EC3 video package.
– Dakota Kai is interviewed, and praises the NXT call-ups to Raw & Smackdown. She doesn’t want to discuss Baszler, and Vanessa Borne arrives and runs her down. Kai says she’s not afraid of Borne.
Bianca Belair vs. Candice LeRae: Candice comes out, trying to put on a brave face, but she’s obviously upset about Gargano. Belair tosses her aside right away. She follows with a shoulder tackle, but Candice fights back with a head scissors and cradle for 2. Belair catches a high cross and hits a slam for 2. Belair then hits a dead lift press slam into the buckles. The torture rack follows, and Candice fights and escapes. She follows with strikes, heads up top and hits a missile dropkick. Belair counters the tornado DDT and the alley oop finishes it. Bianca Belair defeated Candice LeRae @ 3:30 via pin [**] This was an ok match, that told a really good story. Belair was completely focused on winning, while Candice was too emotionally caught up in Gargano’s situation, which led to her downfall and a huge win for Belair. But please give her a better finish to play off of her skills.
UK Champion Pete Dunne vs. Roderick Strong: Cole & O’Reilly are out with Strong. Dunne attacks at the bell and we have a fight. He starts attacking the arm, and then takes the fight to the floor. Back in and Strong cuts him off with a backbreaker. Dunne cuts him off with a forearm strike and as Dunne flies off of the apron, Strong cuts him off with a dropkick. The apron back breaker follows. Strong lays in chops and takes it back into the ring. Strong lays in strikes and grounds the action. Strong takes some time to mock Dunne and then stops away at him. Strong keeps the action grounded, he then looks for suplex, but Dunne hits the x-plex to counter. They trade strikes, Dunne hits an enziguri and then stomps away at the elbow of Strong. Strong manages to dump him and then hits knee strike. The backbreaker follows for 2. Strong follows with kicks and strikes, but Dunne gets a sleeper and transitions into an arm bar; Strong makes the ropes. Dunne up top, Strong cuts that off with an enziguri and follows him up with the top rope Angle slam for 2. Dunne fires up and does the finger break spot and lays in strikes on Strong. The German follows, and the bitter end connects as Cole & O’Reilly make the save and beat down Dunne. Pete Dunne defeated Roderick Strong @ 9:05 via DQ [***] This was a good match, as both guys work very well together. I think that it was a good appetizer for the Dunne vs. Undisputed Era feud, and Burch & Lorcan getting involved made perfect sense following last week; they will be fine surrogates until British Strong Style fully unites to battle the Undisputed Era.
