Ricochet Promo Time: Ricochet is out for some promo time. He explains that it is important for people to remember him and that was his goal over Mania weekend. He plans to take over NXT, because he’s the one and only, and has the NXT Championship on his mind. The Velveteen Dream arrives, and doesn’t agree with what Ricochet has to say. Dream says that he’s the “one and only” that should be in the NXT Title hunt. Because it doesn’t matte how many flips and fops Ricochet does. Ricochet says he knows who Dream is, reminds us that Aleister Black kicked Dream’s head off. Dream threatens to make Ricochet’s nightmares a reality. Ricochet says that Dream is good, but “you ain’t me.” Ricochet says he’ll steal Dream’s show, while Dream says that anything Ricochet can do he can do better. This was a good open, setting up a potentially great feud between these two. I loved the two brash, cocky, and confident guys trying to establish themselves by one-upping each other. Ricochet was pretty good here on the mic, and they need to keep giving him the time to talk, because he won’t get better unless they do.
EC3 vs. Raul Medoza: Mendoza attacks, hits a RANA and then a missile dropkick. EC3 quickly cuts him off, lays the boots to him in the corner and then kills Mendoza with a lariat. The Henning neck snap follows, Mendoza fires up one last time, lays in strikes but EC3 cuts that off and the TKO connects for the win. EC3 defeated Raul Medoza @ 2:43 via pin [NR] This was a fine in ring TV debut, EC3 won, showed off some of his stuff, and that was all he needed to do.
– Post match, EC3 outs himself over for having a mind like a scientist and a body like a mythical deity. He promises to rack up wins while making this place NX3.
– Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan caught up with Pete Dunne. They don’t like each other, but agree to work together against the Undisputed Era.
Dakota Kai vs. Vanessa Borne: Kai hits a dropkick, but misses the running kick. Borne takes over, grounding things. The neck breaker follows for 2. Kai fights to her feet, lays in kicks and the big running kick connects. The face wash follows. The back stabber/destroyer finishes Borne. Dakota Kai vs. Vanessa Borne @ 2:36 via pin [NR] I like Vanessa Borne, she has a great look, great presence (especially so early in her career) and feels like she could be a star if she puts it all together. While a short match, Borne looked as is she improved from her last outing. Kai is a great babyface.
– Post match, Shayna Baszler arrives, and Kai is terrified. Baszler heads into the ring, and backs Kai into the corner. Baszler then chokes out Borne as Kai bails. Some have been down on Kai’s booking, but I think it could be a great story. She has confidence in the ring with anyone else, but Baszler is basically the one bully that she can’t stand up to just yet. If done right, it could be good.
– Kai is interviewed backstage, she wanted to help Borne but froze. Baszler arrives and dares Kai to kick her, but Kai freezes again. Nikki Cross arrives and laughs.
Heavy Machinery (Otis & Tucker) vs. War Raiders (Hanson & Rowe): Rowe and Otis to begin. They trade strikes and it immediately breaks down. The Raiders take control and work quick tags and double teams. They easily work over Otis until he hits a desperation suplex. Tucker & Rowe in and they trade strikes until Tucker hits a dropkick. Hanson hits a suicide dive and Rowe hits a knee strike. Fall out finishes it. War Raiders defeated Heavy Machinery @ 2:50 via pin [NR] This was a short, but fun hoss battle to establish the War Raiders as a force right away.
– We get a recap of TM61 stealing the win from Street Profits last week. Next we see the Street Profits playing some hoops and stating that they want the NXT tag titles.
Kassius Ohno vs. Tommaso Ciampa: Ohno charges Ciampa and takes him to he floor, laying in rights. It’s all Ohno here early on until Ciampa cuts him off back in the ring. Ohno battles back and hits a suplex. The big lad senton connects, but Ciampa trips him up and hits a running knee strike. He then lays the boots to Ohno, taking control and hitting a basement dropkick. Ciampa now grounds the action, and then transitions to a cravat and connects with knee strikes. Ohno fires back with a right and bicycle kick. The big boot follows, and Ciampa is down. Ohno grounds the action and follows wit a knee drop, attacking the previously injured eye of Ciampa. Ohno drops the kneepad, and continues to attack with knee drops. Ohno now works a hanging cravat, and then slams Ciampa to the mat, covering for 2. Ciampa tries to hide behind the ref and that allows him to deliver a cheap shot. Ciampa now attacks the eye of Ohno, but Ohno hits the bicycle kick and misses the elbow. Ciampa hits a knee strike for a good near fall. Ohno fights back to his feet, they trade and Ciampa levels Ohno with a lariat. The neck breaker finishes it. Tommaso Ciampa defeated Kassius Ohno @ 9:30 via pin [***¼] I liked this; it was a good and hard-hitting match. Ciampa came off as a ruthless bastard that will do anything to win, while Ohno was trying to do the right thing and defend his friend.
– Post match. Ciampa takes off his knee brace and attacks Ohono wrapping it around his face, similar to what Gargano did to him at Takeover. Ciampa is a psychopath, possibly a Sicilian one. Ciampa says he broke Johnny’s body, broke Candice’s heart and the fairytale is over.
