ROH Bound by Honor BC vs ROH

WELCOME back to column time with Larry! Today, I am going to discuss and preview tonight’s ROH Bound by Honor (Night II) event. This is one of the many ROH events that will be steaming live on the Honor Club service this year. Feel free to make your picks in the comment section. Thanks for reading! It’s wrestling, we love it and will disagree. The only rules are “have a take, be respectful, and don’t be a dick.”

Coast 2 Coast vs. Motor City Machineguns: Due to the way the schedule worked out (and a tag title match the day before), I am going into this with the thought that the Briscoes retained on the previous night. That should leave us with a disappointed Machineguns team battling the up and coming babyfaces, Coast 2 Coast. In a perfect world, Coast 2 Coast takes the big win here, catching the Guns frustrated with their latest loss to the Briscoes. They keep teasing the Coast 2 Coast push, but haven’t really gotten behind it just yet. But I feel that the Guns will end up with the rebound win here. That’s not a bad thing, but I feel that they are a team that you can heat up anytime and that Coast 2 Coast would benefit way more from the win here. I hope to be surprised by the result, and the match has a lot of potential to be fun, especially because the Guns enjoy working with up and coming talent. WINNER: Motor City Machineguns

Flip Gordon vs. Scorpion Sky: On night one I see Gordon losing to Castle, and Sky losing to Jay Lethal. If that plays out, both guys will be looking for a rebound win here. They previously faced off in a short and solid TV match, which Gordon won, and also in tag team matches. They’ve worked well together, so I think that this has the possibility to be a good and fun match. With Gordon coming off of the higher profile loss on night one, I think he picks up the win here. WINNER: Flip Gordon

Shane Taylor vs. Matt Taven vs. Beer City Bruiser vs. Kenny King: When ROH does four corner survival matches with, there seems to be no middle ground, they are either a mess, or good and fun. Taven and King will provide the moving part and big moves of the match. Taylor & Bruiser are fine, bruiser more so in small doses, and at times, their weaknesses can be hid in a multi-man match like this. Taylor & Bruiser are fine utility players, while King needs the win badly coming off of his TV Title loss, and likely loss to Scurll on night one. But with Taven getting a title shot on May 9th, he really should be continuing his winning ways here to maintain his momentum. WINNER: Matt Taven

Jay Lethal vs. Josh Woods: Josh Woods won the 2017 ROH Top Prospect Tournament and ROH has been exceptional at doing two things with him, JACK & SHIT. He wins the occasional dark match, but any other time he’s booked he’s getting beat like a drum. That whole tournament ended up being a waste of time considering the booking and execution of that tournament, and while he’s not been given a chance, and hasn’t been more than solid, Woods feels like a completely failed experiment. With that being said, I’d expect him to have the best match of his RH run here against Jay Lethal. Lethal is one of if not the best singles performer in ROH, and has been for some time. The guy is always on and delivers on a consistent basis. I had Lethal winning on night one, and he should also win here on night two, getting his momentum back after failed bids at the ROH world and tag titles. I’m really interested to see if Woods can step up his game here. WINNER: Jay Lethal

Adam Page vs. Punishment Martinez: Punishment Martinez is a guy that has been given opportunities, and has largely delivered as he continues to improve. But he finds himself in a bad situation after losing to ROH Champion Dalton Castle in deny or defy, which means as long as Castle is ROH Champion, he cannot challenge for the championship. Adam Page has been having a strong 2018, finally starting to live up to the potential many thought he had. A large part of that has been the association with the Young Bucks, as page found the confidence he had been lacking and from there, started putting the pieces together and started to become a more complete performance. ROH & NJPW are really high on the guy, and this feels like a chance to get him a big singles win against a former world title contender. I predict a trough weekend for Martinez, as I see him losing to Cody on night one, and Page should win here. WINNER: Adam Page

Daniels & Kazarian vs. TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia: The Kingdom (Matt Taven, TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia) stole the six-man titles at Supercard of Honor, and the group as a whole (but especially Taven) have been booked strongly ever since, becoming a real foil for not only SoCal Uncensored, but also Bullet Club. The Kingdom wants the six-man titles back, feeling as if they have never properly lost them, and technically they are right. They lost them when O’Ryan broke his leg and Silas Young subbed in for him. This in part has led to the Kingdom believing that there is a conspiracy against them, so they are taking things into their own hands. Daniels & Kazarian are 2/3 of the six man tag team champions, and looking for revenge, and their titles back here. On the surface, they have a clear advantage here, as they have a long history as a tag team here, and have more experience than their Kingdom opponents. While the Addiction may be bad influence in many ways, the Kingdom feel like they have all of the momentum right now, and it makes the most sense for them to win here to continue the feud and their rise. WINNERS: TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia

The ROH Champions vs. Bullet Club (Cody, Marty, & The Young Bucks): Due to the way the schedule worked out (and a tag title match the day before), I am going into this with the thought that the Briscoes retained on the previous night. It makes the most sense because it’s too soon to take the titles off the Briscoes, and you can build to a possible match with the Bucks here. That’s the a minor story here; the lead story is building to he upcoming Castle vs. Scurll rematch, with a sub-plot of how Cody reacts to his underling getting another shot at the title he desperately wants back. Silas Young is sort of along for the ride since he’s a champion, but at this time, no one in Bullet Club wants his title. With the Briscoes being heels, Silas being Silas, and castle being the only babyface on the team the champions will have divided loyalties, likely leading toothier downfall to a more unified unit, because Cody says Bullet Club is fine. And if you can’t believe in an upstanding individual like Cody, who can you believe? Bullet Club picks up the win to cause some drama in the tile scene. WINNERS: Bullet Club
