Dana White Says UFC Is ‘Keeping Our Eye’ On Gable Steveson

Dana White believes that Gable Steveson will eventually end up in the UFC, noting that they have their eye on him. The Olympic gold medalist has turned to MMA following a run in WWE. Steveson picked up a win in his pro MMA debut at Legacy Fighting Alliance 217 via round-one TKO. He also won his boxing debut, defeating Billy Swanson in just 15 seconds.

Dana White appeared on The Jim Rome Show recently and was asked about Steveson’s MMA prospects. White said that he expects to see Steveson in the UFC at some point. You can see highlights below (per Fightful):

On Steveson’s MMA Prospects:

“Yeah, it’s interesting. When somebody that’s a physical freak, an incredible athlete, and a guy who has competed at the highest level, and then they start transitioning into a combat sport like this, it’s very interesting. We’re definitely keeping our eye on him and we’ll see how this plays out.”

On What Steveson Needs To Do Before Joining UFC:

“Well, think about this, Brock Lesnar came over here from the WWE but he was such a strong wrestler, he was able to win the title. Now you got a guy like this with his wrestling background, who’s actually working his way up in the smaller leagues, getting some experience. You know, he’ll eventually end up here and we’ll find out what he’s capable of doing.”
