Danhausen has finally revealed the secret behind the New York Knicks’ “uncursing.” As it turns out, he says it wasn’t as simple as waving his hands and casting a spell.
Earlier in the season, Danhausen claimed he had cursed the Knicks. As New York kept winning in the playoffs, he eventually announced that he had lifted it, with plenty of fans happily playing along. Before long, the joke spread well beyond wrestling circles.
Danhausen even appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, where he continued taking credit for the Knicks’ victories as the team went on to win the NBA title.
Speaking with Ringside Collectibles at San Diego Comic-Con, Danhausen joked that getting the Knicks back on track took months of work. Keeping up the running gag that followed the team throughout its championship season, he said there was a lot more involved than fans probably realized.
“Oh, it’s just a lot of hard work and preparation throughout the season to get up that uncursing to go. You know, we had a lot of training camps and everything Danhausen attended and, uh, you know, all of that, and then Danhausen was finally ready to uncurse them after they had earned it.”
During the interview, he mentioned the possibility of appearing as a downloadable character in the NBA 2K video game series, though nothing has been announced.
“Yeah, let’s get Danhausen in NBA 2K as a downloadable too.”
