Details Revealed on Jeff Hardy’s Drug Case

September 9, 2011 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

– New details have emerged following Jeff Hardy’s plea deal yesterday about the circumstances around the case. The Fayetteville Observer reports that Hardy met with a fan in Florida named Thomas Ray Cruz in September 2009. Cruz offered to supply Hardy with painkillers and Hardy accepted, having turned to painkillers to deal with the effects of his in-ring style.

Cruz sent a Maxwell’s coffee can with 262 hydrocodone in it to Hardy via the mail. The post office determined that it was suspicious and opened it. They contacted the police who closed it and allowed to be delivered. Once Hardy signed for the package, police raided his home and found the other drugs.

Cruz was arrested in November, 2010 on charges of conspiracy to traffic in opium and two counts of trafficking in opium. He has a court date for November and is currently out on $50,000 bond.
