Deadline reports that former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has joined the cast of the upcoming Highlander remake. He will play Angus MacLeod, the brother of Henry Cavill’s character. It will be directed by Chad Stahelski and produced by Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists. The remake also stars Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang and Dave Bautista. The script was written by Michael Finch.
This isn’t the first time that Bautista and McIntyre have appeared in a film together, as they were both in The Killer’s Game.
This is the remake of the 1986 film of the same name, which starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod. It involves immortal warriors who fight each other through time and can only be killed by decapitation. Production on the remake halted earlier this month when Cavill suffered an injury during training. It’s expected to resume early next year.
