Per RubyJP.com, former WWE wrestler Daniel Vidot (formerly Xyon Quinn) will be playing for the USA’s national rugby league tomorrow (Feb. 27) in Las Vegas after wrestling in Tokyo for All Japan Pro-Wrestling (AJPW) last Monday. Since his WWE release, Vidot has become an established name in AJPW, where he recently held the tag team titles with Oddyssey.

Vidot will be playing for the USA Hawks, hosting a special challenge match against Scotland aatCougar Stadium in Henderson, Nevada. He’s returning to the sport of rugby after playing for Samoa at the Rugby League World Cup in 2013. He’s also been representing the USA since 2024 after he qualified on residency grounds.

Speaking to RugbyJP.com, Vidot said of his week where he’s competing in wrestling and rugby, “It’s a bit of a crazy week. I’ve dropped about 6-7 kilos in the past three weeks. I’ve been working hard trying to get my body ready. I’m really looking forward to it.”

He commented on switching to rugby from wrestling back-to-back, “With rugby, it always becomes more of a team mentality, even though I’m in a team (faction known as HAVOC) over here. There’s a lot of similarities, but it’s still different, we’re not out there (wrestling) for 80 minutes, so I don’t have to run that many kilometres (laughs).”

Vidot added, “In rugby, I have to dial it down a little, but I can still bring personality into a rugby match., I always like to try and hate someone from the other team. It always helps. I try and create little stories in my head. Xyon a big, dialled up version of me, it’s me times by 10, but we’re not too different to be honest.”

Speaking on juggling careers in both rugby and pro wrestling, Vidot stated, “I love rugby league, I always have, I want it to grow, especially in USA. Wearing the jersey and representing USA, for me, it’s a win-win situation. I still miss footy every now and then, so whenever I get a chance to play, I want to take it if my schedule aligns. “I love both things, footy and wrestling, right now. I want to take on whatever challenges come my way.”

Daniel Vidot is next set to wrestle for AJPW at the Dream Power Series, taking place on March 15. The event will be held at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
